MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – The issues of transport connectivity between Belarus and Latvia during the 2nd European Games in Minsk and the 2021 IIHF World Championship, to be co-hosted by Minsk and Riga, were discussed by transport ministers of the two countries Aleksei Avramenko and Talis Linkaits, BelTA learned from Belarus’ Ministry of Transport and Communications.
“The parties talked over the organization of railway passenger transportation during the 2nd European Games 2019 and preparations for the 2021 IIHF World Championship,” the press service informed.
Prior to the start of the 2nd European Games, the parties will regularly exchange information on the sales of travel documents and requests for transportation of passenger groups by international passenger trains on the Minsk-Riga-Minsk route, and will also decide on the need for additional passenger trains.
As part of work on a new train schedule, the parties will continue to study possible options on the Minsk-Riga route during the 2021 IIHF World Championship, which will be co-hosted by Belarus and Latvia.
According to the Transport Ministry, the railways of both countries are now working to increase the number of trains. An agreement has also been reached between international road haulage companies to increase bus services.
