MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Belarus is getting ready for the Second European Games as responsibly as possible. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement during the first session of the committee in charge of organizing the 2019 European Games in Belarus on 21 January, BelTA has learned.
The Prime Minister stressed: “The head of state has given instructions to organize the European Games in the best possible manner. We have 2.5 years left till the event but the feeling that there is a lot of time left is deceiving. All the responsible parties must approach their tasks as responsibly as possible.”
The action plan to prepare for and host the European Games needs to be approved within three months. The draft document has already been prepared and sent out to the parties concerned, said Andrei Kobyakov.
During the session of the organizing committee it was noted that the management of the European Olympic Committees had already stated the high readiness of sport facilities in Minsk for hosting the competitions.
Belarus was elected to host the Second European Games in 2019 after a vote at the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Minsk in October 2016. The First European Games were held in Azerbaijan on 12-28 June 2015. Belarus placed 7th with a total of 43 medals (10 gold, 11 silver and 22 bronze ones).
