MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – The work of fan zones during the 2nd European Games has been discussed at a session of the National Organizing Committee led by Prime Minister Sergei Rumas, BelTA learned from the website of the government.
The organizing committee reviewed progress in arranging catering services in the Athletes’ Village. The committee heard out reports on the work of cafes and restaurants and retail outlets of Minsk during the European Games, contracts for making gear for people who are involved in organizing the games.
The participants of the meeting also discussed smoking restrictions as the European Games was granted the status of smoking-free competitions.
Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in eight sports will serve as qualifiers for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo. Competitions in badminton, boxing, and judo will be held in the format of European championships.
