SOCHI, 16 October (BelTA) – The European Games which are due in Minsk on 2019 will be presented at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi, Deputy Head of the Belarusian delegation, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Andrei Belyakov told the media on 14 October, BelTA has learned.
According to Andrei Belyakov, the Belarusian youth is going to advertise the 2019 European Games at the festival. The presentation will be held at the exposition of Belarusian achievements during the World Festival of Youth and Students. The presentation will include video clips and promotion products. “One of our goals is to tell about this large-scale forum and invite everyone to Minsk,” he said. Close attention at the exhibition will be dedicated to the IIHF World Championship which Belarus will co-host with Latvia in 2021.
According to the deputy head of the delegation, Belarus has already proved with concrete examples that it is able to host large-scale international events. He said that the IIHF World Championship that Minsk hosted in 2014 was recognized as one of the best in part of its organization. Andrei Belyakov did not rule out that Belarus would be able to host the World Festival of Youth and Students in the future.
As was reported earlier, the World Festival of Youth and Students will have an eventful program. The Belarusian youth will take part in discussions, creative and sports events. There are plans to sign several agreements with youth organizations on cooperation with student teams, the youth exchange. Each day will celebrate one of the macro-regions of the planet, its features and key sectors. Apart from that, each day will have a cross-cutting theme to unite panel discussions, conferences and seminars. Such themes will include cultural cooperation, international security, education, science and environment, IT. The discussions will also cover issues related to youth employment, environmental and other issues.
The World Festival of Youth and Students 2017, which is held on 14-22 October, is going to be the biggest youth event. More than 20,000 people from 150 countries are taking part in the festival. The symbol of the festival is a colorful daisy, a symbol of the continuity of traditions, link between the generations, peace and unity of the international community. The main element is colored pixels as a sign of similarity of the youth in the information age. The festival aims to consolidate the youth, promote inter-ethnic and intercultural interaction.
