MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – A literature project celebrating Year of Native Land will be implemented by writers of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from First Deputy Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Elena Stelmakh.
According to her, Belarusian writers are very active in the field of local lore and call on their Russian counterparts to pay attention to the theme. Plans are in place to organize roundtables with the participation of writers of the two countries. The most talented young writers of Belarus and Russia will receive support. “Over the past 20 years, Belarusian writers have been producing books about their native places, their value. A review of our writers' achievements is scheduled for this year. Native land is something that is important for every person. With the support of the Union State Public Chamber, we can significantly expand the space of our native lands. The results will be summed up at the end of the year. It would be great if the public chamber support and reward the best writers of the two countries,” Elena Stelmakh said.
She also stressed that writers need to meet with readers more often. Elena Stelmakh is confident that the book is alive when presentations and meetings with writers are regularly held.
Another project will be held in Moscow in autumn. According to Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets, there are plans to hold a round table on Literature and Songs at the Service of the Union State in the Russian capital. The event will welcome famous writers, poets, and singers.
On 16 July the House of Writer hosted a round table to mark cooperation between the Union of Writers of Belarus and the Union State Public Chamber in literature.
