Nicaragua seeks to set up parliamentary friendship group with Belarus

Nicaragua seeks to set up parliamentary friendship group with Belarus
Arling Patricia Alonso Gómez

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Nicaragua and Belarus have a lot in common, First Vice-President of the National Assembly of Nicaragua Arling Patricia Alonso Gómez said as she met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko, BelTA reports.

“We are very glad to have this opportunity to meet in person. We have many things in common with you. Our National Assembly strives to develop and deepen relations. One of the goals of this visit is to draft an agreement to set up a friendship group with Belarus. Our speaker clearly outlined this task. In order to advance our relations to a new level in line with the principles of friendship and solidarity, we propose to develop a multi-faceted cooperation agreement,” Arling Patricia Alonso Gómez said.

“We would like to thank Belarus for helping our country ensure sovereignty and food security, and for its assistance in agriculture. We have approved several ordinances and agreements of mutual understanding between our countries. For example, a memorandum in education, which Nicaragua has already enacted. There is also an ordinance that provides for the establishment of an intergovernmental commission and a visa-waiver agreement,” Arling Patricia Alonso Gómez added.

The parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Nicaragua led by First Vice-President of the National Assembly of Nicaragua Arling Patricia Alonso Gómez is on a visit to Belarus on 3-4 October. This is the first such visit as part of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Belarus and Nicaragua. Its goal is to thrash out plans to promote interparliamentary contacts.
