MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei met with Renate Held, the International Organization for Migration’s Regional Director for Southeast Europe, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, on 28 January. Renate Held arrived in Belarus to take part in the conference “Strengthening Belarus-UN development cooperation: results, new perspectives and emerging opportunities”, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.
The sides expressed mutual satisfaction with the high level of interaction and sketched out further cooperation steps.
Vladimir Makei pointed out the role that the International Organization for Migration plays in rendering technical aid and consultative aid to Belarus in the counteraction of slave trade. The Belarusian Foreign Minister thanked the IOM for support in promoting Belarusian initiatives on slave trade problems.
In turn, Renate Held mentioned Belarus’ leading role in the international scene in combating trafficking in persons.
