MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are concerned about NATO’s attempts to demonize military cooperation between the two countries. The statement was made by Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov after meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei on 15 November, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Lavrov said: “We’ve discussed the situation in relations between our countries and NATO. In particular, we’ve expressed concern about attempts to demonize Russian-Belarusian military cooperation.”
Sergei Lavrov drew attention to the fact that the attempts were particularly noticeable during the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017 in September. In his words, NATO used its propaganda campaign to justify the deployment of additional military assets on its eastern flank.
