MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) - The Belarusian Parliament needs to strengthen its positions in the international arena, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when delivering his State of the Nation Address on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that it is necessary to maintain ties with the Russian Federation and its regions, to step up cooperation with MPs from the countries of Europe, Southeast Asia, America and Africa. “They have been very active lately in promoting cooperation with our MPs, our Parliament. The activities should result both in a better political image of Belarus, and in the active promotion of the economic interests of our country,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The President also stressed that no problem of people should be neglected by members of the House of Representatives or the Council of the Republic. “Every problem should be dealt with thoroughly and a solution found. This is how the trust and respect of citizens is won. But this does not mean that you should address the problems which fall within the purview of the executive power. But you are the most active people, you see these problems... You have to bring the issues which do not fall within your purview to the attention of relevant authorities,” the head of state noted.
