MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei met with Andrea Rigoni, rapporteur on Belarus of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on 25 February to discuss Belarus’ accession to the legal instruments and mechanisms of the Council of Europe, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, the sides discussed the state of affairs and possible avenues for stepping up Belarus’ interaction with PACE and the Council of Europe on the whole, including Belarus’ accession to the legal instruments and mechanisms of the Council of Europe.

BelTA reported earlier that Andrea Rigoni, rapporteur on Belarus of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, is in Belarus on a visit on 24-27 February.
