MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) - Exams to the 5th form in Belarusian gymnasiums have been abolished. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed Ordinance No.30 “Concerning the admission to institutions of general secondary education” on 25 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
Under the document, students will be enrolled to the 5th form of the country’s gymnasiums without entrance exams. All the students, who received education in the gymnasium from the 1st to 4th forms, will be able to continue their education in the same educational establishment.
The move will ease stress put on primary school students, which in general will benefit their health.
The competition to the 5th form of art gymnasiums will stay in place. The approach will help select the most talented children for receiving education at the educational institutions of the kind.
The institutions of general secondary education will provide an opportunity to study certain subjects in-depth.
The new document will provide equal conditions for receiving quality education at the institutions of general secondary education of all types and also expand opportunities of getting education taking into account students’ individual abilities.
The Education Ministry and the Culture Ministry have been instructed to adopt all the documents necessary for the implementation of the abovementioned ordinance within the next two months.
