MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus will debut in the Eurovision Young Dancers 2013 that will be held in Gdansk, Poland, on 14 June, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company.
Belarus’ will be represented by Yana Shtangey, an 18-year old third-year student of the Belarusian Choreography College (class of the Merited Artist of Russia, People’s Artist of Belarus Klara Malysheva).
Ten countries have confirmed their participation in the contest. They include Armenia, Sweden, Germany, Slovenia, Norway, Ukraine, and Poland.
All contestants must be solo dancers aged between 16 and 21 years.
Each participant will perform a solo act lasting under 1.5 minutes. Music and dance style is up to a contestant. All participants will also perform a group dance during a final show. The final dance will be staged by a choreographer of the contest.
Two contestants getting the highest score will make it to the final. The performance will be a combination of a solo act and a group dance. The winner will be chosen by the jury.
Eurovision Young Dancers 2013 will be organized by the European Broadcasting Union. It is aimed at showcasing modern choreography and the best young dancers.
The Eurovision Young Dancers contest was founded in 1985. The first contest was held in Italy.
