MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) - More than 1,000 delegates will attend the 79th General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) which will be held in Minsk in October, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Service for Standardization.
"These are representatives of the world's leading of companies in the field of electrical, electronic and related technologies, the international, regional and national organizations in technical regulation, standardization and conformity assessment, and also academic institutions," the press service noted.
The international technical policy in key sectors of the economy and international trade will be high on the agenda of the meetings of the IEC technical committees and subcommittees on standardization, seminars and forums, debates and study visits.
"The General Meeting will feature the sessions of 29 IEC technical committees and subcommittees on standardization. They will be attended by more than 900 experts from around the world, including more than 140 from Belarus,” informed the press service. The Belarusian State Service for Standardization believes that for the majority of Belarusian specialists this will be an invaluable experience, the source of modern knowledge and new business contacts, which will allow them to hone up their professional skills.
The main themes of the 79th General Meeting will be "Smart energy use for better quality of life" and "Uniform requirements and conformity assessment are the key conditions for international trade". These themes are very important given the ever increasing competition, the emergence of innovative technologies, and the need for the rational attitude to the resources and the environment, say the organizers.
"Among the activities that will surely draw a genuine interest will be the IEC Young Professionals’ Workshop that will open the doors for youth to professional development and further integration into the international organization," the State Service for Standardization noted.
The program of the General Meeting also includes a range of workshops specially designed for the countries-members of the CIS Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification.
The international expo Energy. Ecology. Energy Saving. Electro (EnergyExpo 2015) and the Belarusian Energy and Environmental Congress, which will be held concurrently with the 79th IEC General Meeting, will provide additional opportunities for establishing multilateral contacts.
The 79th General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission will be running in Minsk from 5 to 16 October and will be a big event not only for the economic and scientific-technical life of Belarus but also for the entire international community. This is the so-called technical Olympics which brings together representatives of the world's largest manufacturing companies: from mid-level engineers and managers to senior management, and top-ranking officials of ministries and departments. The General Meetings are held in advanced high-tech industrial countries and in promising regions. The IEC includes 164 countries, including Belarus.
