MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Fashion historian Alexandre Vassiliev has brought his exhibition project Age of Fashion to Minsk. The exposition of clothes of the late 19th-20th centuries opened at the National History Museum on 14 September, BelTA has learned.
According to Alexandre Vassiliev, the draws of the expo is a summer dress made of silk ribbons from the wardrobe of Rodion Malinovsky’s daughter Natalya, Maya Plisetskaya’s Coco Chanel attire, Lilya Brik’s coat and Eva Braun’s dress.
At the opening of the exhibition Alexandre Vassiliev’s collection received two more additions. People’s Artist of Belarus Yadviga Poplavskaya presented the fashion historian with her dress of the 1990s and People’s Artist of Belarus Alexander Tikhanovich’s suit of 2010.
The Age of Fashion exhibition features 106 costumes and more than 380 accessories and jewelry. The exhibits displays evening, ball and ceremonial dresses, costumes of famous theater and cinema artists, world-renowned fashion icons of the 20th century, among whom is Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, Paul Poiret, and Mariano Fortuny. Many costumes are over 100 years old.
The exhibition will stay open through 10 January 2018.
