MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – The festival Japanese Autumn in Belarus will open in Molodechno, the 2016 Belarusian Capital of Culture, with a concert of traditional Japanese shakuhachi music on 14 September, BelTA learned from the Japanese Embassy in Belarus.

Residents and visitors of the Belarusian capital are invited to attend another concert on 15 September. The organizers of the festival said that from September through November, Minsk, Slonim, Brest and Orsha will host events devoted to different aspects of the traditional and modern Japanese culture. For instance, Belarusians will have an opportunity to enjoy Japanese music performed by composer and bamboo flute player Yosuke Irie and his mother Kaho Irie, a koto instructor and performer. Besides, they will have a chance to master the basics of martial arts. Minsk will also play host to a Week of Japanese Cinema.

In October, Belarusians will be invited to take part in a tea ceremony to taste Japanese tea prepared observing all the traditions. The program of the festival Japanese Autumn in Belarus also features workshops in origami, aikido, sumi-e (ink wash painting), Japanese calligraphy, and other events.

The program for November also includes tea ceremonies, music evenings, workshops and exhibitions.

Belarus will host the festival Japanese Autumn for the fourth time. The Japanese Embassy in Belarus organizes the festival annually in an attempt to acquaint people with different aspects of the traditional and modern culture of the land of the rising sun.
