MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – An exhibition of posters and memorabilia of the Soviet era "Back in the BSSR" will open at the Minsk History Museum on 8 May, BelTA learned from the museum.
The exhibition will showcase rare posters from the 1940-1980s from the collection of the Belarusian Union of Designers. The exhibits filled with enthusiasm of the Soviet era describe the heroic Soviet “paradise on Earth” with the help of unique artistic language.
The exhibition will also feature authentic items of Soviet everyday life: household items and works of art. Many of the items have become iconic and even legendary. Emphasis will be placed on the goods produced in the BSSR (TV sets, radios, etc.). The items on display are from the museum’s holdings or have been loaned from the private collections of Daniil Tsitovich, Dmitry Sursky, Sergei Shilo.
A separate section of the exhibition will be dedicated to the Soviet misfits: hipsters and beatniks. The exhibition will feature photographs, clothing and accessories, samizdat books, records, and posters - all that turned a Soviet man into a flamboyant nonconformist of the era.
The exhibition will have a series of accompanying events. Minsk residents and guests will be offered to attend the thematic concerts, retro-parties, and the evenings of memories "1960s" and "1970s”. In addition, the museum is set to host the presentation of the book “Minsk Stories” by Mikhail Volodin.
The exhibition will stay open until 14 September.
