MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The 4th International Drama Lab will take place in Belarus on 20-26 April, head of the Center of Belarusian Dramaturgy Alexander Marchenko told media on 20 January, BelTA has learned.
The mobile laboratory of the Center of Belarusian Dramaturgy was first held in 2012 to popularize national dramaturgy and support young playwrights. “Today we have a new goal, i.e. to make the drama laboratory more visible and available for a wide audience,” Alexander Marchenko said. In his words, the project needs young and ambitious authors. Applications will be received at the website of the Center of Belarusian Dramaturgy in the form of “motivation” letters.
The final point of the laboratory is a play production on the winner’s work at the National Theater of Belarusian Dramaturgy in autumn 2015. “The Drama Lab will be held in the countryside where playwrights and producers spend five days to write a play,” Alexander Marchenko said.
The forthcoming laboratory will differ from the previous ones by its online voting to take into account the public voice in order to determine the winner.
The main goal of the project is to study the public interest on the way from the development of a play to its production on the stage. The organizers of the 4th International Drama Lab include the Center of Belarusian Dramaturgy, the Internet magazine and theater agency Kultprosvet and the Idea Foundation.
