MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – All the regions of Belarus will hold cultural events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War during the year 2015. The issue was discussed at the session of the interagency commission for the elderly, war veterans and victims of the war on 25 March, BelTA has learned.
Natalia Zaderkovskaya, the head of the department for culture and folk art establishments at the Belarusian Culture Ministry, noted that the Culture Ministry jointly with a number of other agencies has developed a plan of events for 2015. For example, a national festival of ensembles of veterans will open on 5-6 May. “The year 2015 is a special one. We are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Victory so the organization of the festival should be up to the highest standards. Veterans from all the regions of Belarus can participate in this forum,” Natalia Zaderkovskaya added.
The regional stages of the festival will be held from 1 September 2015 to 25 March 2016, and the final concert will take place in the run-up to 9 May 2016.
As for the provision of cultural services, Natalia Zaderkovskaya noted that community centers and libraries are the favorite places of Belarusian elderly people. In this context, the Culture Ministry has plans to fit libraries with new equipment for visually impaired people.
