MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) – Alexei Gross will represent Belarus at the 25th international contest of young pop singers Vitebsk 2016 to be held as part of the 25th International Arts Festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.
The singer was chosen out of ten finalists by a professional jury chaired by People’s Artist of Belarus Mikhail Finberg on 29 February.
It was not for the first time that Mikhail Finberg chaired the jury. The maestro is confident that there are many talented singers in Belarus, and many of those who performed in this year’s national final deserve to sing at the most prestigious venues. As for Alexei Gross, Mikhail Finberg advised him to work on the timbre of his voice.
The finalists performed one song by a Belarusian composer in Belarusian, and a pop song written by a composer from a Slavic country in a Slavic language.
The Belarusian city of Vitebsk will play host to the 25th International Arts Festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk from 14 through 18 July. Festival-related events will also be held on 12, 13, 19 and 20 July. The contest of young pop singers will traditionally be the highlight of the festival.
