MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) - Belarus' Vladislav Goncharov won Olympic gold in the men's trampolining, BelTA has learned.
The 20-year-old Belarusian made a perfect debut at the Olympic Games, executing his final routine flawlessly to edge out Chinese duo Dong Dong and Gao Lei. In the qualifying Vladislav Goncharov was second and scored 61.745 points in the final to clinch the gold medal. Defending champion Dong Dong took silver with the total of 60.535 points, while world champion Gao Lei had to settle for bronze (60.175).
MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Belarusian trampoliner Vladislav Goncharov on claiming the champion title at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.
“I cordially congratulate you on this remarkable, and so important for us all, victory. The whole country followed your flawless performance, and you tamed the sky of the gymnastic arena in Rio. The Belarusian trampolining school is shining now to the whole world with this gold medal. Well done,” the head of state said.
“Great thanks also to the coaching staff and all the specialists who stood by you,” the message of congratulations runs.
The President of Belarus wished Vladislav Goncharov strong health, happiness and new victories to the glory of the Belarusian sport.
