MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey have a lot of promising areas for joint cooperation, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a one-on-one meeting with Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he was happy to visit Belarus and stressed that Turkey was the first state to recognize Belarus’ independence.
"As for our future relationship, there are many areas, especially in the economy, where we can work together,” the President of Turkey said. He also noted that together, the 10 million Belarus and 80 million Turkey make up 90 million people, which is a lot. According to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, this figure shows that a lot can be done, particularly for the economic cooperation between Belarus and Turkey.
Despite some decline in the Belarusian-Turkish trade over the past three years, the Turkish President is confident that there are good prospects for boosting it.
