MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian telecom satellite has been launched into orbit from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center, BelTA reports citing nasaspaceflight.com.
The Belarusian satellite with a designed life of 15 years will provide a wide range of telecommunication services, including satellite TV, radio broadcasting and broadband Internet access.
The Belintersat-1 was built by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.
The car-sized satellite weighs more than 5.2 tonnes. The Belintersat-1 is equipped with a solar battery with 22-meter wings.
The project is commercial and designed for sales across many regions. Consumers will be also offered to use the satellite to develop their own corporate communications networks.
