MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – Volha Mazuronak of Belarus won the European women’s marathon gold despite suffering from a nosebleed in the opening stages of the race in Berlin, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian won the title in a time of two hours 26.22 minutes. Volha Mazuronak finished ahead of France's Clemence Calvin and the Czech Republic's Eva Vrabcova Nyvltova.
Belarus’ Marina Domantsevich and Anastasia Ivanova finished fourth and fifth respectively. Thus, Belarus also claimed the team gold.
Volha Mazuronak’s gold became Belarus’ sixth medal at the championships.
