MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree to declare 2017 the Year of Science, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
This decree aims to promote the role of science in the social and economic development of the country, create favorable conditions for the preservation and development of the scientific potential, enhance of the international image of Belarus as the country with a high level of intellectual and human capital.
The government, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, oblast executive committees, the Minsk City Hall have been instructed to prepare and approve the republican plan of events for the Year of Science in 2017 to highlight the interaction of science with the social sector, branches of the economy, innovative activities, international and sci-tech cooperation.
The implementation of this plan will help develop Belarusian scientific schools, university and industry-specialized science to ensure sustainable economic growth in Belarus, multiply the country’s scientific potential, support talented young scientists and specialists, promote their patriotic education.
