MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) - Belarus beat Latvia 4-1 in the second-round match of Davis Cup Group II Europe/Africa held in Minsk on July 15-17, BelTA has learned.

In the final rubber Yaroslav Shilo defeated Rudolfs Mednis in two sets 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, thus sealing it for Belarus 4-1.

On the first day, the Belarusians took two points: Ilya Ivashko won in three sets against Martins Podzus 6-4, 6-2, 7-5, and Yaroslav Shilo beat Mikelis Libietis 6-2, 6-1, 6-3. In the doubles Latvian Mikelis Libietis and Martins Podzus came over the Belarusian duo of Andrei Vasilevsky and Alexander Bury 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. Ilya Ivashko was victorious in Rubber 4 against Janis Podzus 6-2, 7-6, 6-0.

Belarus will play Denmark in the third round of Group II Europe/Africa.
