VILNIUS, 4 May (BelTA) – The facsimile edition “Francysk Skaryna’s Book Legacy” will be presented in Minsk in early July, BelTA learned from director of Belarus’ National Library Roman Motulsky.
“In the run-up to the Independence Day we will present the 20-volume facsimile edition “Francysk Skaryna’s Book Legacy” to the general public. The event will be held at the National Library,” Roman Motulsky noted.
According to him, the copies of the edition will be sent to major museums and libraries of the world in the coming months. “Today we will give the copies of the facsimile edition to the National Library of Lithuania. Similar presentations will be held in other European countries and also in China (in late May), Kazakhstan, and Israel,” Roman Motulsky informed. In addition, “Francysk Skaryna’s Book Legacy” will be donated to all regional libraries of Belarus
Roman Motulsky also announced a major international conference in Prague on 15-16 June which also will host the presentation of the edition.
Roman Motulsky recalled that there are 520 books by Francysk Skaryna in the world, most of them are in Russia, Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. About 50 countries have the copies of the books by the first printer. Belarus is in possession of 28 books.
