MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent sincere condolences and wished courage to President of the Council of State of Cuba Raul Castro Ruz, the people of Cuba over the passing of Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“It is with deep pain and sorrow that I have learned the news about the death of my Friend and your Brother,” the message of condolences reads.
“Fidel Castro left his bright mark in history as a true patriot who dedicated his life to the selfless service to the Homeland and the ideals of the Cuban Revolution. Having being the leader of a small Caribbean state, he became a political figure of the global scale who had a strong influence on the development of the events in the world in the 20th century and on the future events,” the Belarusian head of state noted.
In his words, consistent and productive activities of Fidel Castro were the catalyst in the formation of such distinctive features of the Cuban nation as the love of freedom and the readiness to protect their ideas. “For all of us and for the international community this great personally will remain an example of straightforward and honest person, true people’s and national leader, a bright example for his associates and followers,” the President stressed. “People in Belarus appreciate exceptional efforts and a big contribution of Fidel Castro to the development of bilateral relations between our countries. His great name is written in the history book of the Belarusian-Cuban strategic partnership in golden letters.”
“Till the very last days of his life my dear friend Fidel Castro continued working hard for the benefit of the people of Cuba and brotherly nations. His wise ideas and advice are very important for me. I am convinced that this invaluable legacy will help me in state activities and personal life,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
Addressing Raul Castro, he remarked: “Raul, we lost a close and dear person, and a unique thinker.”
MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) – The Cuban Embassy in Minsk opened the Book of Condolences to honor leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, BelTA learned from the embassy.
The Book of Condolences will be available for signing from 28 November till 4 December. Messages can be left from 9.00 to 18.00 with a break between 13.00 to 15.00.
Fidel Castro died at the age of 90 on 25 November 2016.
Fidel Castro was a Cuban politician and revolutionary, born on 13 August 1926. He served as Chairman of Cuba’s State Council and the Council of Ministers for 30 years from 1976. He was also Commander in Chief of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and Chairman of the country’s Council of National Defense. Due to bad health he transferred his responsibilities to his brother Raul Castro on 31 July 2006.
