MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – The mass grain harvesting campaign in Belarus is nearly over according to the latest information released by the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, BelTA has learned.
Belarusian farmers gathered in nearly 7 million tonnes of grain as of 21 August. Minsk Oblast contributed 1,769,300 tonnes, Grodno Oblast 1,270,600 tonnes, Brest Oblast 1,224,500 tonnes. Mogilev Oblast managed to collect more than 1 million tonnes of grain (1,045,800 tonnes). Gomel Oblast collected 965,400 tonnes of grain. Vitebsk Oblast, which was the last region to start harvesting, collected 700,500 tonnes of grain.
Cereals and leguminous crops have been collected from 1,948,500ha of land or 90.1% of the total area. Brest Oblast has finished harvesting cereals.
The average grain yield per hectare stands at 35.8 centners. Grodno Oblast boasts the highest yield per hectare — 43.5 centners.
