MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Science is the leading field where Belarus and Russia maintain successful cooperation. Aide to the Russian President Andrei Fursenko made the statement during the expert and mass media forum “Union State. Scientific breakthrough”, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Fursenko said: “Our cooperation with Belarus advances in various spheres and successfully. I am pleased to say that science is the leading field to a significant degree. It happens primarily because we had unified approaches, same views on very many things at the start. We grew up out of the same science – the Soviet science. Belarusian colleagues have managed to better preserve knowledge and competences in some scientific fields. Meanwhile, Russian scientists have something to contribute to this cooperation.”

The official mentioned Belarus-Russia successful cooperation in microelectronics, which is an area of critical importance, and in photonics. “We complement each other. Unfortunately, to a large degree we have lost the competences our colleagues in Belarus still have. The Belarusian companies Integral and Planar are now leaders in this field. They were leaders in the USSR times as well. It is important that they have been preserved. And we also have our R&D products to offer to Belarusian colleagues,” the aide to the Russian president said.

“We have to move forward very fast. Our Union State programs proceed successfully. They focus on outer space, artificial intelligence, and other fields, very versatile fields. The most important thing is that our scientists work together, learn from each other, and produce very good results for our Union State,” Andrei Fursenko summarized.
