MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - Development of cooperation with Belarus is one of the most important elements of Vietnam's foreign policy, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong told media after the meeting with Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA ahs learned.
Mr Nguyen Phu Trong called the talks a success. They were held in an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding, he noted. “We discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest and agreed on the further development of the mutually beneficial ties,” said the high Vietnamese guest.
He stressed that during the talks Belarus and Vietnam shared the opinion that the bilateral relations have been developing very effectively in recent years. However, there is a great potential to build up Belarusian-Vietnamese interaction.
Mr Nguyen Phu Trong said that an arrangement was reached at the meeting with the Belarusian President to bolster ties between parliaments, governments and public organizations of the two countries. The intention is to enhance the role of the Belarusian-Vietnamese intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and scientific-technical cooperation. The parties agreed on the creation of favorable conditions for strengthening links between enterprises, increasing the supplies of goods and services on each other's market, and boosting the bilateral trade.
The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam expressed confidence that his visit to Minsk will give an important new impetus to the development of friendship and cooperation with Belarus. He expressed gratitude to the Belarusian people for the tremendous help and support during the liberation of Vietnam, and for the present-day constructive cooperation, including in the field of trade and economy.
