Kochanova: Cooperation between Belarus, Iran has a great future

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and Iran has a great future, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Alireza Sanei, BelTA has learned.

"We are always ready to support your country in terms of bilateral cooperation and at all international platforms and organizations," Natalya Kochanova said. “Such friendly relations between our countries have developed due to the good, constructive relations between the presidents of our countries. The leaders exchanged visits. Our president has been to Iran more than once. This is evidence that the cooperation between our countries have a great future and we are focused on constructive cooperation. In March 2023, the president once again visited Iran where he spoke highly of our cooperation. Our governments are interacting, mutual visits of the prime ministers of our countries are being prepared."

Cooperation in the economy is very important, the speaker noted. "We, both Belarus and Iran, have to deal with sanctions. Supporting each other is very important. We see this situation calmly. We continue to live peacefully and develop. This is a window of opportunity, and therefore now our country is actively working in all directions so that our people do not feel the sanctions impact," Natalya Kochanova emphasized. “The economy is growing, enterprises are working. The current trade of $100 million is not the limit for our cooperation. I am sure that you, Mr. Ambassador, will visit our enterprises,  our regions, get acquainted with the products that our enterprises produce, and we will definitely find new points of contact in the economies of our countries.”
