Azarenka plans to play for Belarus at Fed Cup match

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – Victoria Azarenka plans to play for Belarus against Russia at the Fed Cup World Group playoff in Moscow on 16-17 April. The Belarusian tennis player made the statement during her meeting with fans in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The leader of the Belarusian national team said that she is always happy to defend the colors of her national team, but she does not always have the opportunity. Victoria Azarenka stressed that every visit to Minsk is a very important event for her. Therefore, she would like to spend her free time with her family, relatives, and not giving interviews. Vika stressed that there is no negative attitude to journalists. She simply wants to have some rest from the press and talk with fans, especially the youngest ones.

Talking about the forthcoming Olympic Games, Victoria Azarenka said that she is going to play in the singles event in Rio only.

She likes football. “I am a big fan of Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona. When I am in Paris, I attend games of Paris Saint-Germain F.C. I like this football club very much as well,” she explained. When asked by young tennis players against whom it is the most difficult to play and whom Victoria is afraid of, the athlete said that she is afraid of nobody and that the most difficult players to face is Serena Williams, Angelique Kerber and many more. Out of the court Victoria is friends with all tennis players.

Azarenka plans to play for Belarus at Fed Cup matchSpeaking about doping and Maria Sharapova’s case in particular, Victoria Azarenka noted that no conclusions can be done before all the details are known. Each athlete has his/her own training program and approaches.

Victoria Azarenka also talked about her dreams to bring the world’s best tennis players to Belarus. Several years ago Caroline Wozniacki, the then world number one, visited Belarus. Perhaps something similar will be organized in the future.

Victoria Azarenka wished all young tennis players to work hard in training sessions as only then one can reach success on the court. The informal meeting wrapped up with a long photo and autograph session.
