Ambassador: Mexico, Belarus have many points of contact for promising cooperation

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - Mexico and Belarus have many points of contact for promising cooperation in various areas, non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Republic of Belarus Eduardo Villegas Mejias told the media after the ceremony of presenting credentials to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat drew attention to the huge potential for Belarusian-Mexican cooperation. "My goal as Mexico's ambassador to Belarus is to make relations much more intensive. First of all, there is an interest in the development of economic and business cooperation between our countries," he stressed.

Ambassador Eduardo Villegas Mejias said that he had already visited Minsk Tractor Plant and got acquainted with its work. He is confident that the development of contacts in agriculture can be very active and there are many points of contact.

"From the point of view of cultural ties, I, as an ambassador, intend to represent Mexico much more broadly. As an example, I will cite the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. I would like to show Belarusians much broader aspects of Mexican culture, including literature and cinema," the ambassador said.

The diplomat added that there are many other sectors for cooperation. "I know very well that the Republic of Belarus has very good positions in IT," he said.

"We believe in dialogue. Our countries should be open to each other," Ambassador Eduardo Villegas Mejias added.
