Akulovich: Parallel Worlds exhibition will turn into a book

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) - The Parallel Worlds exhibition will find its way into a book, Director General of the Belarusian BelTA news agency Irina Akulovich said at the opening of the Parallel Worlds exhibition at the Presidential Library of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

"The exhibition will be made into a book. We are now working on this. One of the authors, Sergei Musiyenko, spent more than one week in the library, scanning the materials," Irina Akulovich said.

She said that the author is going through all the newspapers that were published in Belarus in the mid-1990s. "When the book comes out, you will see the headlines: insulting, humiliating, forecasts full of doom and gloom," she said.

As an example, Irina Akulovich cited a headline in one of the newspapers published in 1994. It read: "The president’s program is unimplementable”.

“Drawing on the posters (of the exhibition) and newspaper articles we can make an in-depth analysis. Time has put everything in its place. It is obvious how wrong the opposition was in its forecasts, and how right the president turned to be with his strategic vision for Belarus' development,” Irina Akulovich emphasized.

In her words, for 30 years these two polar worlds have existed in parallel – one as a world of creation and development and the other as a world of destruction and degradation.

The BelTA director general is sure that the book will be in demand.

The Parallel Worlds project features 17 posters which depict the footage from the news agency's archives, which reflect two worlds: the world of the state which is creation and development and the world of the opposition that is destruction and degradation. Earlier the exhibition was showcased on the 22nd floor of the National Library, where the viewing platform is located. The exhibition was visited by more than 8,000 people on 17-21 January.

On 22 January, the project moved to Minsk Automobile Plant. Later, the photo exhibition was displayed at Belarusian State University. On 10 April it was opened in the Presidential Library of Belarus with the participation of MPs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation.
