MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – The Italian Embassy in Belarus is eager to promote cooperation between Italian theaters and the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Stefano Bianchi told reporters, BelTA has learned.
In his words, there is a project to invite soloists of such leading Italian theaters as La Scala in Milan, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples to participate in joint productions and performances with the Belarusian side. The diplomat stressed that “it will be soloists who perform leading roles”.
Stefano Bianchi said that one of the projects which is now in the pipeline is the concert of Italian tenors from Neapolitan Teatro di San Carlo with the participation of the orchestra of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus. “We know that the Belarusians like Italian art very much. We believe that this project will arouse interest,” the Ambassador said. He added that the works by Italian composers make up a major part of the theater’s repertoire.
One of the examples of successful cooperation is the performance Viva commedia which premiered at the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theater in Minsk on 19 September. “We would like to show this performance in Italy in Russian. I think it will be interesting for the Italian audience in spite of the language barrier. However, it is only an idea now, but we will try to bring it to life,” First Secretary of the Italian Embassy in Belarus Ugo Boni said.
