MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Russian skiers were triumphant in the 50km cross-country skiing event occupying the entire podium on the last day of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Legkov of Russia was the first to finish clocking 1:46,55.2, just 0.7 seconds ahead of his teammate Maxim Vyligzhanin who claimed silver. Bronze went to third Russian athlete Ilya Chernousov.
40-year-old Sergei Dolidovich of Belarus also showed his best, finishing fifth, 14.3 second behind the winner. His teammate Mikhail Semenov also was quite good and even was in the lead after 30km, but lost his strength and finished 17th (+40.8 seconds). Alexei Ivanov of Belarus crossed the line 46th (+5.57,7).
The 50km cross-country race on the last day of the Olympics was the best in results for the Belarusian skiers in Sochi.
