The main social and political event of 2016, the 5th Belarusian People’s Congress, has opened at the Big Hall of the House of the Republic. The major national forum has gathered in Minsk delegates from all Belarusian regions – government officials of different levels, executives, specialists from social and economic sectors, influential public figures and youth leaders. Guests from abroad, including representatives of Belarusian communities, international organizations and integration associations, and heads of diplomatic missions have also been invited to attend the forum.
The program of the two-day forum is eventful. The delegates will review the country’s achievements over the past five years and set strategic objectives for the future. The draft program for Belarus’ social and economic development for 2016-2020 was published in the run-up to the Belarusian People’s Congress. The extensive document outlines the country’s domestic and foreign policy priorities, points of economic growth, and social development guidelines that will be discussed during the national forum.
