MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) - Belarus has been named the best country for agrotourism and Leonid Pashkovsky from Belarus has been recognized the best travel blogger, according to the National Geographic Traveler Awards 2018, BelTA learned from the National Geographic Traveler magazine.
Belarus won in the Agrotourism category with 50% of the vote, beating Italy, Brazil, China and the United States in the readers’ online voting. “Belarus is one of the most attractive agrotourism destinations. Today, there are more than 2,000 agricultural farmsteads in the country,” the magazine said. Besides, Belarus was the winner in the Agrotourism nomination in 2016.
Leonid Pashkovsky, the author and host of the travel blog "I want to go home. Trips you will not make" became the best travel blogger. He scored 47% of the vote and beat competitors by a large margin.
More than 225, 000 people are subscribed to his YouTube channel.The online voting for the best tourist destinations, the National Geographic Traveler Awards 2018, was open in 25 main categories from 22 June to 5 October.
The online voting included 25 main nominations. Tourists chose the best destinations in the categories Beach Leisure, Family Vacation, Excursions, Ski Holiday, Adventure Vacations and Eco Tourism.
