MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Nadezhda Skardino of Belarus claimed the European champion title after winning the IBU Open European Championships Pursuit in Tyumen on 27 February, BelTA informs.
Nadezhda Skardino moved from fifth at the start, 38 seconds back to claim her first IBU OECH title. Her ski speed and accurate shooting were the keys to her victory. She cleaned the first three stages, but missed two in the final standing stage. It did not hamper the Belarusian to finish first in 30:01.7. Silver went to Karolin Horchler of Germany, 7.4 seconds back, with two penalties. Ingrid Tandrevold of Norway finished third, 14.1 seconds back, with three penalties.
As for other Belarusians, Dinara Alimbekova came in 30th (3:27.9 back; four penalties), Maria Panfilova was 33rd (4:06.6 back; 6), Kristina Ilchenko – 37th (4:29.7 back; 8).

“Numerous fans of the Belarusian biathlon team were looking forward to this victory. I hope that your success will give a confidence boost to our athletes before the world championships,” the message of greetings reads.
Alexander Lukashenko wished Nadezhda Skardino, other members of the team, and their coaches health, success, and new victories.
