MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus hosted a draw ceremony for the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships that is due to take place at Minsk Arena on 1-3 May 2015, BelTA has learned.
Thus, the draw for Group A (individual programs – ball, loop, clubs and ribbon) is as follows: Azerbaijan, Austria, Italy, Israel, Russia, Finland, Ukraine, Spain, Belarus, Bulgaria.
According to President of the Technical Committee of the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) Heide Bruneder, a total of 38 countries have applied for the forthcoming continental forum in Minsk, which proves a high level of trust in Belarus as the organizer of such a big sport event.
The Belarusian NOC also hosted a draw ceremony for the junior competitions for the qualifying and final events.
Among the Guests of Honor of the official draw ceremony was NOC Secretary General Anatoly Kotov, NOC First Vice President Maxim Ryzhenkov, Deputy Sport and Tourism Minister Cheslav Shulga, Chairman of the Presidium of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association Elena Skripel, first coach of the national rhythmic gymnastics team Irina Leparskaya, first deputy head of the sport and tourism department of the Minsk City Hall Valentin Borovok, chairman of the guardian council Vladimir Karpovich. Partaking in the official ceremony was London Olympics bronze medalist Lyubov Cherkashina.
The organizers of the 31st European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships presented a promotional video and merchandise that will be available during the tournament.
Belarus will host the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships for the second time. The country hosted its first continental forum at Minsk Arena in 2011.
