MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expects that more powerful trade and economic basis for Belarus-Kazakhstan relations will be created. Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement during restricted-attendance negotiations with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev on 29 November, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state said: “At last we are starting to overcome the recession in our trade and economic relations. Your visit will help us increase the trade turnover. We have everything for it.”
The Belarusian leader stressed: “Our specialists, members of the government, who are present here, will give us options. Good proposals are available. If we accept them, it will be a considerable step forward towards creating more powerful trade and economic basis of our relations.”
Speaking about politics and diplomacy, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned that views of the sides fully coincided. “We support each other at every turn. We are the closest countries. Yesterday as I received the outgoing ambassador of Kazakhstan, who had done a lot to advance the relations, I thanked him and told him that the three countries, which created the Eurasian Economic Union, are the closest allies on the planet. We should make this friendship and cooperation stronger by placing it on powerful economic basis. We are ready for it,” said the Belarus president.
Alexander Lukashenko also noted that Nursultan Nazarbayev had always spoken in good terms about Belarus and its people, that he pays a tribute of respect to Belarusians for what they did when both nations were part of the same country. “We are independent sovereign countries now. Our love and respect for the Kazakhstani will not be diminished. We are always glad about Kazakhstan’s development,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
In particular, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned the development of Kazakhstan’s capital city Astana and its urban development accomplishments. “The current generation with you at the helm has erected a monument to the Kazakhstani nation that will last for centuries. We borrow a lot of your civil engineering practices, we learn a lot, we transfer some techniques to Belarus,” said the president.
