MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Famous Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica has called Belarusians patriots as he arrived in Belarus where he will participate in the 17th Minsk International Film Festival Listapad 2010, BelTA has learnt.
“Belarusians look like people who love their country. My first impressions of Belarus are very good,” the Serbian filmmaker said. Talking about master classes he will give to Belarusian students, Emir Kusturica said that he always prepares very carefully for them.
The Serbian director arrived in Minsk on a private jet, accompanied by a son and a manager. He was welcomed by representatives of the festival and the Culture Ministry of Belarus.
Emir Kusturica will take part in official meetings with authorities and unofficial meetings with students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. The director is expected to stay in Minsk until 11 November.
Emir Kusturica is a Serbian filmmaker and musician. He has won the Palme d’Or at Cannes twice. He has been recognized for several internationally acclaimed feature films, like When Father Was Away on Business, Underground, Time of the Gypsies, Black Cat, White Cat, Promise Me This, Life is a Miracle, and other movies.
