MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) - Fresh from taking 10km pursuit gold Belarus’ biathlete Darya Domracheva again proved that she is second to none in Sochi as she clinched women’s 15km individual gold on 14 February. Belarus’ Nadezhda Skardino could come in second but Switzerland’s Selina Gasparin extinguished her hopes for Olympic silver, BelTA has learnt.
Darya Domracheva came to the finish line after 43:19.6 and missed once. Nadezhda Skardino did not boast equally high speed but she shot clear and stopped the clock after 44:57.8, 1:38.2 behind Darya Domracheva and took third place. Selina Gasparin, who broke up the all-Belarus podium, also stayed clean for the entire race and stormed to silver in 44:35.3 and was 1:15.7 back.
This is the second gold for Darya Domracheva at the Sochi Olympics and third overall. Four years ago in Vancouver she won the first Olympic medal (bronze) in her career, also in the 15km individual.
