MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping arrived in Minsk on the state visit, BelTA has learned.
At Minsk National Airport the high guest was welcomed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The official talks between Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping are scheduled for this afternoon. First the presidents will hold one-on-one talks and later will be joined by other members of the delegations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader. A number of international agreements are to be signed. The leaders of the two countries are expected to talk to the media. It is planned that the state visit of Xi Jinping will last till 12 May. This is the first visit of the Chinese President to Belarus in the past 14 years.
The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China were established on 20 January 1992. The Belarusian-Chinese political, trade and economic relations have been increasingly vibrant, which is primarily due to the common principles of the domestic and foreign policies, similar views on the key issues on the global agenda.
In 2014, the Belarus-China trade in goods and services amounted to $4.186 billion (up 3.8% from 2013). The export of goods and services (excluding oil, oil products, fertilizers, solvents and lubricants) went up by 38.9%.
