MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – The Grand Prix of the 22nd Minsk International Film Festival Listapad has been awarded to The Lesson, a Bulgarian-Greek film directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov. The award ceremony took place at the Moskva cinema house on 13 November, BelTA has learned.
The jury of the main feature film competition was chaired by People’s Artist of Russia Vadim Abdrashitov. He noted that all the decisions were made almost unanimously. Besides, he thanked the organizers for the opportunity to get acquainted with the best films from around the world.
Listapad Silver Award in the nomination Film as an Art Phenomenon was given to The Project of the Century (Cuba, Argentina, Germany, Switzerland) directed by Carlos M. Quintela. Listapad Bronze, the audience choice award, was presented to Rams (Iceland, Denmark), director Grimur Hakonarson.
As for other prizes of the main feature film competition, The High Sun (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia) directed by Dalibor Matanic won Best Director Award. The same film (cinematographer Marko Brdar) was given Yury Marukhin Memorial Award for Best Cinematography. Special Jury Award for Artistic Daring in Comprehension of Modern Era went to Carlos M. Quintela's The Project of the Century (Cuba, Argentina, Germany, Switzerland). Sound engineer Vladimir Golovnitsky was honored with Diploma for Sound Solution of High Artistic Merit for the films The Land of Oz (Russia) and Peace to Us in Our Dreams (Lithuania, France, Russia). Diploma for Original Interpretation of Classics went to Marcin Wrona’s Demon (written by Pawel Maslona, Marcin Wrona: Poland-Israel). Diploma for the Epic Start in the Artistic Research of the Life of the Modern China was awarded to Jia Zhangke’s Mountains May Depart (China-France-Japan).
Russia’s Pioneer Heroes (by Natalia Kudryashova) was named the best film of the Youth on the March contest. The special prize of the jury went to Bulgaria’s Thirst (by Svetla Tsotsorkova). Diploma for Deep and Uncompromising Study of the Nature of the Violence in the Modern Society went to Jorge Forero’s Violence (Colombia and Mexico). Diploma for Loyalty to the Traditions of the Japanese Cinematography went to Ichiro Yamamoto’s Anohito (The One; Japan).
The Grand Prix of the documentary film competition was awarded to Wojciech Staron’s Brothers (Poland). The special award of the jury went to Sergei Loznitsa’s The Event (the Netherlands-Belgium). Diploma For the Artistic Presentation of People with Disabilities went to Aleksandra Maciuszek’s Casa Blanca (Mexico-Poland). Diploma for the Expression of Hope to Preserve the National Culture in the Age of Globalization was awarded to Ostap Kostyuk’s The Living Fire (Ukraine). Diploma for the Presentation of the Artist’s Unconventional Identity went to Giedre Zickyte’s Master and Tatyana (Lithuania).
The title of the best film in the national competition went to Nikita Lavretsky’s Belarusian Psycho. Andrei Kutsila’s Guests won the best documentary of the national competition. Evgeny Nadtochey’s About an Ox got the award for the best animation. Among the awardees are also Darya Zhuk’s The Real American, Darya Yurkevich’s Easter (Belarus-France), and Maksim Lushchik’s Obntzbncha.
Best Actress Award went to Yana Troyanova, The Land Of Oz (Russia), Vasili Sigarev; Best Actor Award was given to Nelson Camayo, Violence (Columbia, Mexico), director Jorge Forero; Best Cast Award was shared by Pioneer Heroes (Russia), director Natalia Kudryashova and Thirst (Bulgaria), director Svetla Tsotsorkova; Special Diploma For The Miracle of Belief in Cinema, For Belief in the Miracle of Life was presented to Anohito (The One) (Japan), director Ichiro Yamamoto.
Diplomas for the discovery of talents were awarded to the television and arts department of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (Russia) and Sokurov’s workshop (Russia).
