MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to create all necessary conditions for the implementation of joint big investment projects with Qatar, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Qatar’s Finance Minister Ali Shareef Al Emadi and Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti on 18 November.
The head of state thanked the Qatari representatives “for the work done in Qatar not long ago”. “We have discussed a lot of issues that are of interest to Belarus and, first of all, those pertaining to the mutual relations between the two states, the potential we have in economic cooperation and other areas. Here we had a consensus of opinion that there is no need in discussing where we should start as you have already implemented a very big investment project in Belarus building the Marriott Hotel,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
The President, however, is convinced that the two states should not be satisfied with what has already been achieved. The head of state reminded the guests that two or three serious projects were discussed during his recent visit to Qatar. These projects might demonstrate the parties’ determination to expand trade and economic cooperation.
Alexander Lukashenko stated that certain work had been already conducted in cooperation with the Belarusian financial agencies and banks. “I welcome Qatar’s intention to work in Belarus, and we are ready to create all necessary conditions for that,” the President said.
The head of state stressed that after promising to visit Minsk for further talks the Qatari delegation did it very quickly. Alexander Lukashenko is confident that the negotiations would be a good preparation ahead a visit of the Emir of Qatar to Minsk. The agreement on the Qatari leader’s visit to Belarus was reached during the recent talks at the highest level in Qatar.
