MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 522 to declare 2016 the Year of Culture on 28 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The decree has been adopted to bring together the intellectual and spiritual forces of the society in order to promote the country's social and economic development, preserve the historical and cultural heritage, develop folk traditions, teach citizens love their motherland and support creative initiatives.
The government, the regional executive committees and the Minsk City Hall have been tasked to develop the national plan of activities for the Year of Culture that will touch on all spheres of activities.
Considerable attention will be given to art culture which is one of the main means of teaching patriotism and respect for the motherland. A set of activities will be developed to celebrate the commemorative dates in Belarus.
