MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Darya Blashko of Belarus claimed the IBU Junior Cup Total Score Title, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Biathlon Federation.
The Belarusian scored 388 points to finish first. Second was Yelizaveta Belchenko of Kazakhstan with 339 points. Christin Maier of Germany (333 points) finished third. At the IBU Junior Open European Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia Darya Blashko did not grace the podium, finishing 20th in the 12.5K Individual, 15th in the Sprint and 10th in the Pursuit.
Darya Blashko is a two-time world champion among biathletes under 19 years old. The world championships took place in Belarus' Raubichi in February 2015.
In the men’s IBU Junior Cup Total Score 2015/2016 Belarus’ Maxim Vorobei finished 16th with 231 points. Viktor Krivko, the winner of two gold medals at the JOECH in Slovenia was 17th with 230 points.
Belarus President, President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to Darya Blashko who won the IBU Junior Cup Total Score title in the 2015-2016 season.
“Your success made all Belarusian amateurs of sport happy. Junior achievements instill confidence in the future of the Belarusian biathlon school,” the message of greetings reads.
“I am sure that tomorrow you will conquer the highest sports summits. That’s the way to go!” the head of state noted.
The President wished all members of the team health, happiness, and new achievements.
