MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Belarusian runner Marina Arzamasova claimed the 800m Women gold at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich, Switzerland on 16 August, BelTA has learned.
Marina Arzamasova showed the time of 1:58.15 to collect her champion title. The time was not only a new personal record for the athlete but also the best result of the season in Europe.
Silver went to Lynsey Sharp of the UK (1:58.80, personal record), with Joanna Jozwik of Poland claiming bronze (1:59.63, personal record).
Marina Arzamasova brought second gold to Belarus at the current European Championships. The first highest award was taken by decathlete Andrei Kravchenko.
At the Marathon Women Final on 16 August Belarus was represented by Marina Domantsevich. She clocked 2:33:57 to finish 18th. Christelle Daunay of France grabbed the gold of the event (2:25:14, a new record of the European Championships).
Pavel Krivitsky finished one step from the podium at the Hammer Throw Men Final. The Belarusian showed the result of 78.50 to take the 4th spot. Pavel Boreisha of Belarus took the 10th position (74.73) in the same discipline. Krisztian Pars of Hungary claimed gold (82.69, the world’s best season result). Silver went to Pawel Fajdek of Poland (82.05), with bronze at Sergei Litvinov of Russia (79.35).
