MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Bishkek is hosting the 16th edition of the CIS Forum of Creative and Scientific Intellectuals on 12-13 September. The event has brought together more than 200 delegates. Greetings to the participants and guests of the forum were sent by CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

In 2023 Kyrgyzstan is chairing the Commonwealth of Independent States. The country is successfully bolstering its chairmanship with numerous integration initiatives and landmark projects. By hosting another forum Kyrgyzstan reaffirms its commitment to strengthening humanitarian cooperation in the CIS, Sergei Lebedev said in his message of greetings,

"Humanitarian cooperation is one of the key areas of interaction between the CIS countries, an important unifying principle based on the common historical and cultural background, spiritual traditions and values, trust between peoples. Therefore, it is gratifying to see humanitarian cooperation between our states developing rapidly in recent years," Sergei Lebedev emphasized.

According to him, the geography of such landmark projects as "100 Ideas for the CIS" and "CIS Capitals of Culture", the large-scale events as the forum of scientists, the Congress of Teachers, the CIS Sports Games  is expanding. The number of participants in the CIS Network University is growing. New promising projects are emerging, among them the interstate program "CIS Capitals of Sport", the international project "CIS Youth Capital", base organizations in tourism and journalism, CIS summer and winter sports and athletics competitions among children with disabilities.

It is expected that following the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Government in October, this list will be replenished with new initiatives in youth policy, sport and public health.

"This year’s forum is themed around ‘Dialogue of Languages and Cultures of the CIS Countries - a Resource for Sustainable Development’. In this context, it is very important to discuss such major issues of CIS humanitarian cooperation as the further development of the dialogue of cultures, the formation of a common scientific and educational space, youth cooperation and volunteer initiatives," Sergei Lebedev said in his greetings.

"Today we are consistently working on numerous events for general humanitarian, scientific, educational and educational purposes from the plan of events of the Year of the Russian Language, approved by the CIS Council  Heads of Government. An additional impetus to cooperation will be given by a new international organization under the auspices of the CIS to support and promote the Russian language, which was agreed by the leaders of our countries at last year's summit in Astana," Sergei Lebedev emphasized.

He expressed confidence that thanks to the open and trusting atmosphere traditional for the forum, creative and scientific intelligentsia will make a worthy contribution to the development of humanitarian interaction and intercultural dialogue in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
